Barry and Liz Gray are the dynamic duo behind Berlsa Trading, Pipers of Distinction, the Sydney School of Piping & Drumming, and A Highland Wedding Kilt Hire. With over five decades of experience, Barry has solidified his reputation as a pre-eminent figure in the bagpipe community. As the Principal Administrator of the Sydney School of Piping & Drumming, he has mentored countless students, many of whom have achieved remarkable success both locally and internationally. His influence extends beyond teaching, as he’s led various pipe bands to victory in competitions across the globe.

Barry’s journey is one of dedication and achievement, marked by milestones such as directing the Hawkesbury Pipe Band to notable placements in national and international championships, and serving as Senior Pipe Major at prestigious events like Anzac Military Tattoo. His passion for the bagpipes transcends performance and instruction; it’s a lifelong commitment to preserving and promoting Celtic traditions.

Barry and Liz met when they were playing in the St. Johns Ambulance Brigade Pipe Band in 1977 and were married in 1979. They have four children, three of which played in pipe bands, and three grand children. One who has played in a pipe band (as seen here on stage with Sir Paul McCartney) and the other two are currently learning with their school band, Dollar Academy.
